Daly warns of peripheral vascular disease and explains methods of prevention

 Dr. Walid El-Daly, professor of vascular surgery and treatment of diabetic foot at Cairo University, confirmed that everyone has a responsibility to put precautions in order to prevent rheumatic vascular diseases, the most important of which is to avoid smoking, control blood sugar, exercise for 30 minutes a day five times a week, and maintain cholesterol reduction  High blood pressure, eating a healthy diet low in saturated fat, and maintaining a healthy weight.

 Dr. Walid Al-Daly said that the goal of treating peripheral arterial disease is to stop the disease from progressing and manage pain and symptoms so that they are not active and reduce the risk of serious complications.

 Dr. Walid Al-Daly confirmed that peripheral vascular diseases are diagnosed by examining the pulse in the extremities and looking for signs of arterial blockage in the limb. Some important tests such as ultrasound to measure blood flow and the location of blockage in blood vessels and CT scan with dye to determine the location of the blockage and the nature of the arteries before  After blockage, this step helps the doctor choose the type of operation.

 Dr. Walid Al-Daly pointed out that angioplasty surgery is a procedure performed through local anesthesia, where a thin tube is inserted into an artery in the thigh or arm, and through it the narrowed area is visualized and then expanded with a balloon and sometimes a stent is installed to ensure that the artery remains open.
